Jeff Lucky is an independent hip-hop artist from the “Queen City” of Charlotte, NC. As a member of the popular duo DPS Lucky performed to packed houses across the southeast gaining notoriety amongst fans for his uninhibited performances and energetic live show style. In addition to rhyming Jeff is also an award winning filmmaker who shot, directed, and edited all of the groups’ music videos. In 2008 Lucky decided to shake things up and give the left coast a shot, relocating to Los Angeles to take the west by storm. In less than a year Jeff has already added to his list of credentials. His rap lyrics were featured on the CBS TV show Cold Case. Not only were his songs performed by the lead actress in the episode, Jeff also made Cold Case history as his original song Read Between The Lines(for which the episode was named) played over the montage, marking the 1st time in the shows’ 7 year run that an original song has played over the case- solving final shots. Jeff’s next venture is preparing for the release of his debut solo album in 2011. True to the spirit of his southern roots, Lucky’s musical style can best be described as “soul music translated through hip-hop”. Inspired by soul legends like Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye and Gil-Scott Heron fans can expect to experience the raw emotion and passion of the beautiful southern soul tradition of storytelling.
