What songs pop into your head when you''re dreaming of the beach? The emotions, pictures, and memories of times near the ocean helped inspire this collection. The 60s inspired Dick Dale, the Wilson Brothers, Jan & Dean & others to write songs about their lifestyle near the sea. Jimmy Buffett was inspired by the magic of the islands and campfire stories on the beach at night were born. Bob Marley helped show the world another view of life by the sea. All over the world, "surf" music means something different to each and every person who experiences the waves, peace, serenity, history, hardships, and possibilities at the ocean''s edge.
A lot of fun is packed onto this collection of songs and a lot of respect given to the artists who led the way. Special thanks goes out to other musicians who helped on this project: Tom VanDaele, Shawn Anderson, Rick Kislia, Dave Mahl, Kerry Tucker, and Scott Walker.

"Jimmy Sparks'' Surf Beach Island is a melodic meltdown of infectious rock songs. After listening to the CD, you''ll feel like you''re on a tropic island with the warm sand below you, a hot afternoon sun high in the sky, a cool breeze blowing off the ocean in front on you with your favorite beverage in your hands. Pure pop magic"

"Surfing is fun. Drinking your refreshments watching the sunset by the sea is another kind of joy. I have experienced both of these at home by my stereo, with my headphones on and without having to travel so many miles. Ranging from 60''s style classic surf to modern surf in style and hi-class musicianship, Jimmy Sparks'' album SURF BEACH ISLAND has been a fixed part of my web radio GARAGE LOMBUS. Strongly recommended.

"Hold on to a tailfin my friend ‘cause Jimmy Sparks has taken his original compositions on a tri-power cruise, one-way trip back to the recording studios of Link Wray, Dick Dale and that unmistakable twangy guitar of Duane Eddy. At times, the unique anachronistic musings of this leadfoot will have you wondering if you’re getting ocean wet from a Beach Boys invasion or hopelessly lost in Martin Denny’s quiet village. But if space travel knocks your knees, don’t be mislead. You won’t mistake these contemporary offerings with stale bread – nothing but high fiber protein here, dressed in that vintage, family-friendly Wonder Bread wrapper. Whether burnin’ rubber or enjoying the submarine races, the maestro’s montage of campfire sparks and glowing embers will spill you through an enjoyable evening where contemporary crazy meets solid instrumentation and the contagious fun of days gone by."
