Forged in the Southwestern desert sun, the nuBlues Band makes Roswell, New Mexico it''s home. Influenced by the genre of Robert Johnson, Willie Dixon, Son House, John Lee Hooker and Lightning Hopkins, the nuBlues Band invoked the sounds of the British Blues masters like Cream, Led Zepplin and Rolling Stones along with a good helping of numerous other home-grown legends to create a very unique sound.
The nuBlues Band, a four piece blues/rock group based in Roswell, New Mexico. With a combined 60 years of playing with the current lineup, classic blues songs like Kind Hearted Woman Blues or Sweet Home Chicago become creative interpretations of the original recordings done by blues greats such as Robert Johnson and Buddy Guy.
With the release of “Chicken Fried Blues”, we have demonstrated our electric blues capability. The upcoming release of “The Backhouse Sessions” a double CD includes both electric and acoustic blues. The nuBlues Band is made up of Keith Berry on harmonica and vocals, Ron McElwee on electric and acoustic guitars, bottleneck slide and vocals, Ronne McLarin on bass guitar and Gunnar Burden on drums, playing both cover and original songs in an electric and acoustic blues format.
Citing influences from Eric Clapton, Santana, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Son House, John Lee Hooker, Leonard Cohen, Albert King, Cream, Bruce Cockburn, Pink Floyd, B.B. King, this band combines folk, blues, rock, country and spiritual music to synthesize a driving beat that “…sounds like a freight train!”
