Fieldhouse Recordings is pleased to introduce a singer/songwriter of formable talent, Monica Arrington, better known to the world as nerdkween. Nerdkween is known amongst the circles of lo-fi and noise pop enthusiasts for her cassette and CD-R recordings. She brought her audience compositions of eerily touching beauty. After a welcoming debut, Synergy, on Stickfigure Records, nerdkween returns with an exciting and yet introspective concept recording entitled ProfitandLoss.
The sophomore CD is enriched with ethereal textures and layered with nerdkween’s emotive vocals. Much of the album is a result of influence from Arrington’s favorite composers of minimalist music, Terry Riley and Steven Reich. She continues to develop her craft for combining different genres into seamless new forms. Nerdkween relies upon more familiar sounds from pop, folk and even country for her more gritty work.
