From the liner notes: "Barcelona Suite started as a single warm-up piece on a different guitar, but really gained life (and movements) once I actually got a Spanish guitar. People used to ask me to play “that Spanish-sounding” piece at performances. It’s not really Spanish music, but I do think about Barcelona when I play it.
The other compositions come from experiments over time with non-standard tunings: celebrating a child’s glee in the berry field, calming a fussy toddler or saying goodbye to an old friend, guitars can be a wonderful medium for expressing thoughts and feelings (and just plain fun to play)."
