Like their first two albums the Suede Brothers third album, The Night, was recorded at Suma Recording Studio in Painesville, Ohio under the guidance of Paul Hamann. As done with the first two albums, good use was made of Suma’s arsenal of vintage equipment including, but not limited to tape machines, microphones, compressors and the hand built mixing board. The difference is that this album represents a large step forward for one of the Rust Belts premiere hard rock bands. This album jumps a few flights of stairs on the continued accent to hard rock supremacy by the Suede Brothers. Dylan Francis’ vocals and guitar playing have never been more dynamic. Kevin Naughton’s bass playing is a larger presence than ever and Mike Varga’s drums have become a controlled and continuous earthquake of melodic rhythm. The Night was recorded in less than thirty-six hours with minimal studio effects and wizardry. What you get is a straight ahead, no B.S. hard rock album that’s meant to be played loud, yet has depth and is thought provoking and insightful. And yes, it rocks very hard too!
