Susan Picking is a Midwestern gal with pacific Western cool. Originally hailing from Michigan, Susan worked her way westward to Long Beach California via ski slopes and airplanes. Recently Picking has returned to her midwestern roots to Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Picking is a piano playing, ukulele strumming, award winning lyricist. Her moving melodies and stirring lyrics reflect a deep soul. Susan’s songs are about life, but not as we usually think of life. She cajoles the listener to see the quirky underbelly. Her wistful wit comes through a voice rich with lovely cadences. That’s where you might catch a glimpse of her Irish Heritage. She engages the audience with a keen sense of humor and a wry delivery, all the while connecting, uplifting ,and inspiring.
Picking’s first CD Down in Your Soul was well received, followed up by a 3 track demo Take Three. After her “Wonder in The Wonder Tour”, her song, of the same title, placed 2nd at The RiverFolk Songwriting competition in Manchester, Michigan. It was just selected to be apart of an internationally released compilation CD titled SongsAlive! 11. This is produced by an international organization SongsAlive! which promotes Indie artists. She is also currently hosting an essay contest asking people to submit stories about the Wonder in their Wander.
