No crazy names, no gimmicks, just good music. Born Eric “Liddell” Smith Jr., I have spent my entire life both living & performing between Fort Worth, TX & Omaha, Nebraska. Starting as just a frustrated musician looking to take business into my own hands & “cut the middle-man,” I have evolved into much more than just a solo artist. I am now actively pursuing a career as a published songwriter, singer, rapper, producer, and CEO of a start-up music production company. Though I songwrite for all genres of music, as an artist, I primarily perform Hip-Hop/R&B with an occasional mix of Gospel & Alternative influence. While it may seem like a mouthful, truthfully I feel privileged to encompass such a balance between my business sense & music creativity.
At this time, I am busily performing, songwriting, & recording in the studio in anticipation of the release of my debut solo album, “The Eric Liddell Project”, slated for release in Jaunuary 2011. Promotional activities are also currently underway leading up to the album release party to feature special guest celebrity to be announced. This event will provide an opportunity for my growing facebook, reverbnation, & myspace fanbase to purchase the album and other Eric Liddell merchandise, and a platform for music executives and A&R’s to see Eric Liddell perform live on stage. Thus far, my musical efforts have led me to achieve numerous accomplishments. Through my affiliation with a leading A&R company my has been directly forwarded as solicited material to major video game companies such as THQ & Sony PlayStation. I have been winner of the Yahoo Pepsi Smash Contest online. Furthermore, the licensing of my music in films has led to the successful negotiation of having such music featured on a DVD distributed nationwide and obtaining a free music video.
Whether you would consider me a businessman with a love for music or a musician with a love for business, I know I am extremely excited at the opportunity to enhance both aspects of my music career with my upcoming debut album release.
