The peak of Izio Gross'' recordings, remastered and impressive.

Izio Gross, pianist, organist and composer: when he was 7, he started having piano and harmony classes, since he was eager to learn how to play the piano. He received great encouragement from his mother, Olga Gross and his father, Bruno Gross, who has been spalla-concerto violinist of the Rio de Janeiro Symphonic Orchestra, played tenor sax at the Copacabana Palace, and for 29 years at the company of casinos Urca, and also from his mother who was an excellent pianist.

At 1, he played with the Juvenile Symphonic Orchestra from Rio de Janeiro a simplified version of "Rhapsody in Blue" by George Gershwin. After classical studies of piano and harmony at the National Conservatory of Music, he had advanced piano classes with Laerte Vaz de Mello and Edmundo Kliass. Wishing to know more about techniques, he studied harmony and counterpoint based on the principes of Paul Hindemith''s method. At 19, he wrote his first arrangements for groups in Rio and for Big Bands of 18 musicians. Later on, he became director of the Valter Pinto company, the biggest Brazilian company of revues, and wrote many shows for the Brazilian folies comedia José Vasconcelos. He signed a contract with Radio LRI-3 from Buenos Aires, where he worked for three years, organizing a Big Band, and inviting the famous tenorman Gato Barbieri to play with it.

He has created many commercial jingles for the Brazilian market, although never forsaking his "jazz" and "samba-jazz". He performed with his own group, backing many famous artists like Elza Soares, Miltinho, Lúcio Alves, Maysa, Jamelão, Elizette Cardoso and Ademilde Fonseca.

In 1962 he went to Europe, wehre he took part in many jazz festivals: Montreaux (Switzerland), Den Haag (Holland), Nice (France), "Salsa Maga" (Lisbon, Portugal) and performed in many European jazz clubs.

In the USA he played with Chico Freeman (tenor sax), Art Farmer (trumpet), Woody Shaw (trumpet), Leo Wright (alto sax), Alex Blacke (bass), Dizzy Gillespie (trumpet), Dom Um Romão and Edson Machado (drums)

With thanks to:
The inspiration, friendship, and cooperation of the beautiful singer Flora Purim, of the great drummer Airto Moreira, and of all the musicians who participated in the production of this CD and also of the drummer Vusi Khumalo and the bass player Denis Lalouette.
