Details:
The Lights release their stunning debut Album “Teenager of the Century”
Including the brilliant new single “No match for Genevieve”

Produced by renowned producer Gavin Monaghan (Travis, Editors & Kings of Leon), the LP fulfils the promise made by the critically acclaimed singles Low Hundreds and January Blues. The Lights featured on numerous BBC regional playlists before hitting the radar of Janice Long’s BBC Radio 2 show, resulting in the band performing a live set on air in early summer, and also caught the eye of Steve Lamacq and NME.

A positive burst of light and energy, the Birmingham based band consisting of five bright-eyed individuals with the heart and determination to take their music to the masses. Their sound is like nobody else, unique, eclectic and intimately epic. A melding of five creative minds to produce an array of unique sounds, ranging from soft and passionate to loud staggering moments, they''ve perfectly blended each other''s influences and abilities to create one magnetic and appealing force.

‘A challenge to pigeonhole… as lyrically adept as Idlewild but as melodically breezy as a hard rock Teenage Fanclub, they are a challenge to pigeonhole. Imagine Elvis Costello writing lyrics for ELO, fronted by James Dean Bradfield’s younger siblings!’ NME

A challenge to pigeonhole they may be, but there is no doubt that The Lights combine their eclectic edge with beautiful melodies and a warmth that produces a hugely radio friendly wall of sound.

‘… this band are the new Goldfrapp, they could sneak straight to the top of the charts’- Floatation Suite

Having gigged extensively throughout 2009, word spread to promoters about a rising band appearing with more frequency on the musical radars. The result was a host of festival offers in the midlands last summer including Birmingham Artsfest and the Nelson Mandela Festival, with a full set of UK dates tbc very soon.

‘… this band is about ready to explode’ – Indie London

The release of their 5 track EP The Fair Weather Travelling Companion in 2008 was met with a wealth of positive reviews and saw the band moving away from the pop sounds to something more folk orientated. The Lights have developed a poise that playing and writing together has afforded them. Combined with their supreme talent as musicians thay have all the attributes needed to make a massive impact on the music scene.

''Belle and Sebastian if they’d been raised on the Eagles rather than the Velvet Underground''- GOBSHOUT
Think the Beautiful South mixed with elements of The Magic Numbers and a sprinkle of Elvis Costello. Singers Shaun Kelly and Liz Shiels’ voices complement each other perfectly and their vocal harmonies are totally infectious. -Shout 4 mUsic
