“A Black and White Movie” was named by solo acoustic artist and founder Matthew A. Rushing. The idea for the artist name “A Black and White Movie” came from a reoccurring dream Matt had been having for a week or so where he was sitting in an old and rustic theater from the 1940’s where he watched all of the negative aspects of his life unfold in front of him on the movie screen in black and white. Matt had played in a couple of punk rock bands since his sophomore year in high school and had been kicked out of both over creative differences. Matt took the material he was writing for the bands and started playing live with just one acoustic guitar and one microphone under the name “90 Days to Flight.” Matt had been in a car accident where he was placed in a back brace for 90 days. The name never really stuck and eventually Matt had that week long black and white movie dream sequence and discovered a high school classmate, engineer and producer, Michael Sanders who recorded three albums under that artist title name “A Black and White Movie.” Those were the self titled “A Black and White Movie,” which is available on iTunes, “1959,” which is a punk rock album with friends filling in on certain instruments, and the brand new release “The Haunting” which took two years to record.
