Folie Ordinaire is a five piece London based band that came together from different countries and musical backgrounds resulting in a crossover of post punk, new wave, krautrock and electro disco that draws its many diverse influences from Talking Heads, Gang of Four to Can, LCD Soundsystem or Giorgio Moroder. Their sound is a mixture of synth arppegiators, funky glam guitars, powerful basslines and sexy revolted lyrics performed in intense shows that often develop into a party.
Antoine and Manu, who grew up together in France, moved to London in 2002 inspired by the musical heritage it had to offer. The rich music scene and the experiences they lived there came as a revelation and formed the incentive and inspiration to form a band. The rock, dance, and party culture seemed a perfect backdrop and scene to fall into and launch what was to become Folie Ordinaire. In the summer of 2009 Eliot joined forces with them; a guitar player originally from London and a friend that Antoine and Manu had met while playing in the indie band Love Minus Zero. They started gigging around London with different drummers and bass players until finding the perfect line up in the spring of 2010, with the addition of Juan, an Argentine bass player, and Spanish drummer Cristina. Louis would later join them on percussion for some of their biggest gigs.
Folie Ordinaire’s own sound develops from a collective creative process in which all the members input ideas influenced by their different musical backgrounds. They share the same love for enraged dance music and quickly gained a reputation for putting the liveliest shows and expressing an immense burst of energy on every song they play. Their energetic, frenetic and blistering live performances are a celebration of the carnal spirit and a wake up call to break free from "ordinaire" hidden inhibitions and society’s restrictions, consumer culture falseness, and postmodern apathy and alienation. With a raw directness that resembles that of 70''s punk, their lyrics can also be a sex charged parodic tribute to the disco era heroes, for which Antoine digs into the french tradition to pull out provocative whispered lyrics that he sings with his https://www.tradebit.comy.
