Internationally recognized artists of FLUTAR (Joseph Cunliffe, flutist and Giorgia Cavallaro, guitarist) performs Classical and World Music including tangos, sambas, choros, milongas, habaneras and traditional Peruvian melodies from Latin America, Celtic airs and jigs from Ireland, traditional music from America and original music inspired by their diverse musical experiences. Original arrangements combining traditional woodwinds, Native American flute, guitars, percussion, penny whistles and soprano saxophone help to create the complex and expressive voice Flutar is recognized for.

From concert stages at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to an amphitheater in a remote Mayan archeological site in El Salvador, the music of Flutar crosses cultural boundaries blending ethnic, folk, jazz, classical and contemporary styles. An "Outstanding Musical Production" award was given to Flutar from the Greenbelt Arts Center in Maryland for their concerts in 2001 and 2002 which was produced by Konrad Herling. The title track "Tears Goodbye" from their newest CD release was selected and featured on a CD sampler by OASIS recording company and distributed to radio stations nationwide.

Flutar was awarded the title of "Artistic Ambassadors to the United States," by the United States Information Service for their valuable cultural and artistic contributions during concert tours in El Salvador in 1998. Writer, film director and founder of the Permanent International Festival of Art and Culture of Suchitoto, El Salvador wrote: "The presence of these great artists is comforting to us and fills us with immense happiness. When our Festival began and many people were frightened to come to Suchitoto, they came to give us hope, optimism and faith by means of their marvelous mission; and that beautiful concert in the Cathedral will be, for always, unforgettable. A year later, they came with their CD titled "Dreams of Suchitlán" a homage to our martyred town and they secured, even more strongly, the warmth and grateful affection that we already had for them. Today on their third tour,...they come endorsed by countless successes that have consecrated them as one of the major and great duos in the world of music.... "

As individual artists they have pursued successful solo careers in music but it is in their collaboration as the Duo Flutar that their combined passion and talent has been realized and has earned them acclaim. Flutar''s most recent performances include the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, OAPN - Cincinnati, Ohio, Springfield Arts Council, Ohio, Troy-Hayner Cultural Arts Center, Ohio, Southampton, NY, National Flute Convention, Washington, DC, Longwood Gardens, PA and concerts in Cornwall, England. They have had the opportunity to perform for world leaders and celebrities such as Presidents and Vise Presidents of the United States and Latin America, Ambassadors, Oprah Winfrey, James Galway, Leonard Slatkin, Lorin Maazel and as well as at the Central American Summit Conference and National Hispanic Heritage Awards.
