Details:
SHE WAS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE is a song about losing touch with people you have loved, but for whatever reason, lost contact with over time, a song of regret, SOMETIMES (I FEEL LIKE KILLING THE NEIGHBOURS ROOSTER) is a song that I wrote one summers morning, at half past five, having been woken by the subject of the song. No roosters were harmed in the making of this CD. THE BIG FISH is one of the first songs I wrote, which I always find fun to play, it’s been pretty good to me over the past few years. I used to pass a girl on the way to work every day, she walked to work in the other direction, hence the title PASSER BY. She’d always be smiling, if only more people were like that on the way to work, the world would be a much better place. A few years ago, I was saddened to see the way one particular singer’s life was going, and so from the bottom of my heart I wrote AMY, PLEASE DON’T HURT YOURSELF. I wrote WHO’D GET THEM AT THE WEEKEND? As a bit of a laugh, it’s all about the dogs.

LIVING ON BORROWED TIME was a song about my travels to play a gig as a support slot or at one of the open mic’s around town, where after a few drinks, I’d get a taxi at the end of the night - spending too much money, but having great fun at the same time! I wrote I’LL SEE YOU IN INVERNESS on a train between Perth and Inverness, I hadn’t been in the town I spent much of my raising in for a couple of years, so the words to this one spilt out of my heart. HOW MANY TIMES will be a fairly self-explanatory one, written about a time where I’d chase a lass to no avail, and be left wondering what more I had to do! I was fairly depressed for a short time a few years ago, and I wrote GATHERING DUST about my feelings of that time. SHE WAS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE (REPRISE) concludes the story from the first part, a song of regret, but perhaps a lesson. WORRIED MAN BLUES is one of my favourite traditional songs, I love to play it, I hope you like my version of it.

Fash Stewart, February 2011.
