-I didn’t start writing songs and playing guitar till…actually a couple of years after college……I later started playing open mic-nites at coffee houses in Columbia and Greenville. My encouragement for playing music out to the public came from the suggestion from longtime friend of mine Edwin McCain (for who I am tremendously grateful for his help and guidance).
While living in Charleston I would pull his guitar out of his case and begin playing it without requesting or without a care…I later understood this to be not very cool….
So, one day he walks in with a cheap $100 dollar guitar and said, “you can pay me back later and....good luck with that! “.....This guided me down the long road to playing music of where I am today.....I play on average close to 50-70 shows and charity events a year in Greenville and Charleston, SC. My shows are a combination of original songs and cover songs that I try and re-deliver from my interpretation of them.
I list my circle of musical influences to include artists such as James and Ben Taylor, Phish, Bob Marley, Widespread Panic, Edwin McCain, Rickie Lee Jones, Ben Harper, Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Dave Mathews, Citizen Cope, and Sting. As for local and regional artists I hold great admiration and respect for Spencer Rush, Uncle Mingo, The Piedmont Boys, Will McKibbon and David Wilcox.
My song-writing draws from the hearts of my children to the inspiration and support from my friends. I’ve had the privilege of recording with both Sit-Spin and Whitestone Studios in Greenville look to finish a four song EP by end of Fall 2010.
