PLAYING JAKS: MADE IN NASHVILLE

Playing JAKS, is a brand new group with a debut album that’s just as fun and carefree as the group’s name. The Playing JAKS songwriting duo of John and Kim D’Agostino knock it out of the park with the songs on Made In Nashville.

Playing JAKS’ music has a hybrid country flavor that most everyone will like, will feel at home with and will be left wanting more. You’ll find yourself comfortably settling in with the familiar country music structure. The driving acoustic guitars playing along side the gritty electrics are all held together with a steady and strong rocking drum beat. Mix in some touches of fiddle, mandolin and piano, all played by Nashville’s finest and you''ve got some modern country sounds. Put that soundtrack in the same bed with lyrics inspired by The Beatles circa Rubber Soul and now you''ve got something everyone’s going to like.

Playing JAKS was born between bites of a roast beef sandwich at a deli shop just south of Denver, Colorado. John and Kim needed an outlet for the music they were creating at home. Kim’s wholesome and honest lyrics blend well with John’s biting pessimisms to create songs that touch on today’s reality. The name Playing JAKS is word play itself. The band performing on the songs is a group of stellar Nashville session players and demo singers that were pulled together by veteran Nashville producer Kim Copeland for the recording sessions to “play John and Kim’s songs”.

Made In Nashville opens with “Right Kind Of Life”, a song reflecting, but not preaching, on who lives the right kind of life and what you can do to feel good about your life too. “Girly Girl” is a country rocker that tells the story about that girl you’ve seen riding the mechanical bull at your favorite watering hole. “Break Away” lays it out for you – yeah you got the day job that pays the bills, but boy, what guy doesn’t still want to be a rock star!

“Ain’t Too Late” is the next track and reminds you that you’re not the only one in your world when you’re in a relationship. They don’t say it takes two to tango for nothing. “Standing There” follows that with a feel good rocker about all the fun memories every great relationship should have. “Back To The Top” is a song about one way of pulling up your bootstraps as times get tough in today’s economy.

“Missing You” is unmistakably real country and tells you to slow it down. The songs touching story reminds you to not take anything, or anyone, for granted because life’s too short and it could be all gone before you know it. “Do What You Gotta Do”, just do it, enough said! “Words” is next up. It’s a song that asks you to look inside yourself and watch what you say because there’s always someone listening to what comes out of your mouth.

“Never Too Old To Dream” is the female companion to “Break Away”. John might have wanted to live the rock and roll life but Kim’s story about a young girl packing it up and hitting the road to become a Country Star is just as real as it gets. The last song on the album is “Addiction”. Face it, life is tough and we’re all addicted to something…or someone.

Eleven original and brand new tracks from a brand new group, Playing JAKS’ Made In Nashville is the real deal for a real good time. Try out a few tracks and I’m sure you’ll want the rest.

Remember, it ain’t too late to break away and do what you gotta do, because you’re never too old to dream.
