Harpist, Julie Ann Smith, is one of America''s youngest and most exciting harpists today. Silver medalist in the 2004 USA International Harp Competition in Bloomington, Indiana, and Bronze medalist in 2001, she made her National Symphony debut with conductor Marvin Hamlisch in 2002. An active recitalist and soloist with orchestra, she has performed with ensembles in the US, as well as given performances in Italy and Japan. For the past two seasons she has been the harpist for the New World Symphony Orchestra in Miami, Florida. This season she will serve as principal harpist for the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. She is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music where she studied with Yolanda Kondonassis and is represented in the Great Lakes region by Great Lakes Performing Artists Associates.

This CD, The Rhapsodic Harp, is Ms. Smith''s first solo album. It contains a range of 20th century classical music that explores a variety of colors and moods on the harp.
