...The Bethesda Project....Where Purpose Meets Destiny
Every now and again, we are reminded, in this technologically advanced era of instant everything, that gifts, talents and favor (although not fair) are still the purview of the Creator. Jeff Roberson affirms this with his first solo CD - The Bethesda Project. Like the pool at Bethesda, this CD has something for everyone and establishes Jeff Roberson as a gifted and talented artist for the ages.
From opening modestly with, It’s My Time, a jazz fused R&B, lyrical revelation of where he is in his life, to the concluding hip hop Mountain Move (remix) Roberson takes us on a journey through his life experiences. Replete with hurt, pain, rejection, incarceration, hope, redemption, reconciliation and love, Roberson shares his relationship with God while ministering to listeners hearts, minds and souls.
Along with featured background vocals by Melonie Daniels, and James "D-Train" Williams, Roberson, explains to us on Closer to You why he wants to get with his God and then invites us with the Long Island Fellowship Ensemble to Celebrate Jesus. Debbie Tharpe-Fennell is featured with Roberson and LIFE on the head bobbing, foot stomping, hand clapping, back home “ Mountain Move. Roberson’s convincing mix of traditional and contemporary gospel - (good news) leaves one with a desire to dance on Intro and jam with Jesus on I Owe You. Pentecost provides us with the confidence to face and overcome any challenge while the very sensual We Need Love soulfully links us to each other.
Indigenous to Long Island, Jeff Roberson’s tantalizing tenor testifies in My Joy, ranging in a duet with 2006 McDonald’s Gospel fest winner, Bettina Pennon, another talented Long Islander. Likewise, we can feel Roberson when he delivers his heart wrenching testimony and witness on the very intimate, I Believe. Accompanied by his keyboard and sympathetic strings, he clearly crystallizes, his pain, hope, and resilience, asking and convincingly answering that age old question “ What is the meaning of life?
This multi-talented, composer, arranger, vocalist and 21st century renaissance man - the gifted and talented, Jeff Roberson with The Bethesda Project, (produced by Ken Wallace/Ian London Productions for Jeff Roberson/Long Island Gospel Sound Records) re-defines traditional music ministry with a relevant delivery of the gospel to humankind.
Thank you, Jeff Roberson for troubling the water and reminding me that all things are possible to them that believe.
