Jelts and Idolize''s latest album, "Tomorrow''s Last Try," is a reminder of how great hip-hop used to be. It''s been a long while since anybody put out something worth listening to that was worthy of mainstream air play. The album jumps off with the title track "Tomorrow''s Last Try" that would move any crowd, whether it is an audience at a show or a house party. After the first track comes to an end Idolize and Jelts keep the party going with "Words" with the hook line "They are the audience, I am the lyricist..." They follow up "Words" with a more serious tone on "Time Line" where they touch on the stresses involved in getting a name out as hip hop artists. On "Ignite" they talk about making our own would a better place and freeing your mind from the media stronghold that exists in our nation. Then, Jelts follows up on "Ignite" with a dope instrumental track titled "Mother Sun." "I''m So Dead" is the next track and it very reminiscent of the old school hip hop, yet it maintains the innovative sounds Jelts has provided thoughout the album. "Illiterate Times" discusses the the ultimate in action and reaction and the hopes of two artists for the future. At the same time they remind on the track "unfortunately the future ain''t a suture for your wounds..." The next track, "The Way It Is" tells exactly what the title says...the way it is. Then we move into "Zombie Jesus" that contains some audio clips from "The Big Lebowski" and the same flowing lyrical genius that Jelts and Idolize drop all through the album. "Last Night" is definitely one of the best tracks on the album that touches on existentialism in the purest form, with the hallucinations and altered realities of the two artists. Next up is "Engraved Papers" illustrates a day in the lives of Jelts and Idolize over some funky instrumentals. The next track, "Meet and Greet" is one that touches on something we''ve all been through with meeting new people and losing touch with people. "Nose Disease" talks about the epidemic that has become a plague with our society, drug abuse. In "Nose Disease" the drug is cocaine. The next track ,"It''s All Over," is more production genius given to us by Jelts. It is definitely the sickest beat I''ve heard in I don''t know how long. "Illiterate Revised" is a remix of "Illiterate Times" played over another Jelts beat. The final track on the album is a remix of "The Way It Is."
All in all, the cd is a classic and a burned copy has become an almost permanent fixture in my cd player. The original is no longer in my possession...some guy working a Wendy''s drive thru was quite fond of the music so I gave him the original copy. The production throughout the cd is amazing and every track has it''s own unique sound provided by Jelts. The only track Jelts didn''t produce on the album was "Ignite," which was produced by Anglo-Saxon. The album keeps it very simple in the area of guest appearances. There is only one track, "Nose Disease," that has guests and it features fellow Wild Life Refuge member, Rashenal and Emiliano.
