Sit in the Sun is one of those groovy little pop nuggets that so often get lost in the shuffle these days. Smart, tuneful, inventive, its five cuts proper inhabit the sunnier end of the indie pop spectrum, perfect for summer daydreaming. From the merry-go-round keyboards of "Everywhere I go" to the gentle country-ish lilt of "Don''t Leave Me", with its Pet Sounds vibe, Michaels consistently delivers catchy melodies blended with, as our esteemed PCP managing editor has described, Michaels'' "John Croslin on Zoloft" vocals (Croslin being the respected producer and former leader of Austin''s revered Reivers). While the insinuating "All Around Us", pivoting around a simple keyboard riff, is almost annoyingly catchy with its repetitive swirls, "So So", with its carefree bounce and lush melody is most emblematic of Michaels'' talent.
