The Anthony Lattanze Band formed in 2003, led by singer-guitarist Anthony Lattanze who envisioned an ensemble with a big, fun sound and the musical strength to carry his honest lyrics confidently into the spotlight. The result: a tight, fresh, ever-evolving group characterized by wide-ranging instrumentation, adding mandolin, pedal steel, horns, organ, harmonica, or whatever else works to get the song done right.
Band members are Anthony Lattanze, lead vocals, lead guitar, harmonica; Carl Bahner on drums, percussion; Matt Fat Fat Martin, guitar, vocals; Brendan McGeehan, bass guitar, vocals; Greg Bocutti, Saxophones; Pat Sample, trombone; Alec Simmers, percussion; and Christopher S. Stever, trumpet. The core members, trained musicians who genuinely love investing artistry and intelligence in the bands unique arrangements, are joined from time to time by special guest artists.
Dancing is not optional, say fans: If you dont get up and dance, you might be dead. Reviewers are struck by The ALBs upfront creativity, and they do their best to define a band that seems to defy categorization, writing about ALBs specific style, vivacious vocals, hopping-horns and lively lyrics (S. Kreider, The Anthony Lattanze Band: Where the Past and Future Collide, La Vie Collegienne).
In a few short years, The ALB moved from being college friends into a solid live-concert attraction, winning the Beta Hi-Fi Festival at Philadelphias World Café Live (Summer 2006) and entertaining audiences from New York to Maryland in colleges, clubs, and cafes, opening for such national acts as the Gin Blossoms and Epic recording artists Marty Casey & Lovehammers. Venues have included: World Café Live (Philadelphia); WMMR 93.3s Live Rock Show at Grape Street (Philadelphia); The Chameleon Club (Lancaster, PA); Club 218 (Philadelphia); Ocean 98.1s Music for the Heat Festival (Ocean City, MD); Fordham University (Bronx, NY); and alma mater Lebanon Valley College (Annville, PA) where the ALB members major in music.
The Anthony Lattanze Bands debut album, Digging Up the Past for Up and Coming Days, is available on iTunes and https://www.tradebit.com. As The ALB shares their prolific repertoire with audiences up and down the East Coast, its only a matter of time before The Sound travels farther.
