MP3 Landfall - When The Wreck Is Coming Down

Do you like grungy and oriental stonerrock? Landfall sounds like Chris Cornell never had a vocal coach, smoked too much pot, went searching for Satan with the Slayer guys and finally grew up in Palm Desert and not in Seattle. Alright?

After their first garage like EP (2004) LANDFALL present their first full length album «When The Wreck Is Coming Down» in a refined form. Meanwhile, the band didn''t become a chamber ensemble. They only gave more space to their music in order to reach the desired direction. LANDFALL has recorded an album that bases on the dynamics of the 90''s Grunge. But the sound escapes this cliché thanks to smooth arrangements and partly uncommon grooves. In particular, the guitar parts play with variants that are to be found rather rare in the usual Grunge-Metal. One hears the experimental riffs on «Critter Rock», «Be Aware Of Yourself» or «Aurora».
In addition, LANDFALL can also be loud and fast. The straight «One Time», «Ride It» or «Come Along» are good examples.
Furthermore, the melancholic song writing is outstanding: «The Last Song in The Future» is one of this rather melancholic pieces, «Catching The Soul» another. Finally, the album reveals an addiction of the band to open song structures and long jam sessions. Just listen to «So High So Down» or «Aurora». During the recording, it wasn''t easy to put these songs into accurate song structures.
