Mr. Kim Webster announces the release of his new CD, "Children of the Sea". Mr. Kim''s long awaited second CD is a follow-up to his award winning first recording, "Musical Child" which recently won a 2004 Best New Artist award from the Children''s Music Web. The new CD features 16 new original songs written, arranged and performed by Webster.

The character of the songs on "Children of the Sea" range from whimsical to educational to sentimental and are aimed to please both children and adults. "Many of the ideas for my songs have come from conversations I have had with the many children I entertain", say Kim. "In my songs I try to capture the simple things that kids see and hear and I get ample opportunity during my classes to pick on their interpretations of things". For instance "Learning to Whistle" grew out of many a child''s frustration at not being able to whistle and "Red Kazoo" out the wonderment of young minds realizing that they too can make music. In "Baby Life" Kim recalls the joy of "splashing in the tub, looking in the eyes of someone you love" while "Mama''s Lap" evokes the joy and that comes from curling up in mom''s lap. But children are not his only inspiration, "Top to Bottom", was based on a slogan used by his son''s kindergarten to teach an important concept about learning to read and write. An education theme continues in "In Certain Circles" which introduces rudimentary geometry and "Value You" which hints at the value of diversity.

"One of the greatest sources of inspiration for me is my 7 year old son, Eric" says Kim. Six years ago, Webster and his wife mutually agreed that he would quit his former full time job and devote more time to the care of their son. This gave Kim time to foster not only his, but also his son''s musical ability. Eric was only 5 when he went into the studio for the first time to record, "Clowns" on Kim''s first CD . Although only a mere 52 seconds long, "Clowns" is one of Webster''s most requested songs and Eric regularly sings with his father at public performances. On "Children of the Sea" Eric sings lead vocals on 4 songs. "Front Teeth" is a whimsical song about Eric losing his front teeth. "Open Arms" came to Kim when Eric held up an oak leaf and said he was sad and that he "felt like this leaf". "My Little Town" is inspired by the sights and sounds of a local Grafton barbershop while "My Name is Dave" is a little silly song that pays tribute to the 2004 World Champion Boston Red Sox.

Webster is keenly aware of the fact that parents will have to listen to his CD over and over and strives to provide a musical experience that can be enjoyed by all ages. One of Webster''s favorite songs on "Children of the Sea" is "Baby Life". "The song uses guitars in an open E tuning to give it an interesting sound quality and a "wah-wah" pedal to impart a baby-like quality" says Webster. " In addition, sophisticated background harmonies pop-up in usual places, making this one of my favorite songs on the CD".
