Details:
Listening to her father''s bluesy voice and impromptu lyrics, and admiring her older cousin who found success on the Billboard Charts 5 times, an early musical interest began in Morgan Bracy.
She left her hometown of Cleveland, Tennessee, to attend MTSU in Murfreesboro. There, she studied vocal performance and recording industry on scholarship. By exclusive invitation, she lent her voice to the elite classical ensemble, Schola Cantorum, (led by Raphael Bundage) and the eight-voiced jazz ensemble, the MTSU Singers. She also participated in many recording projects, engineered by students and engineering professors.
Springing from a songwriting partnership that began in college with friend, Jeff Lockerman, there came writing accolades. In 2000, Morgan was a finalist in Ed McMahons Next Big Star. Springing from a songwriting partnership that began in college with friend, Jeff Lockerman, there came writing accolades. In 2000, Morgan was a finalist in Ed McMahons Next Big Star National Online Competition, Inspirational Music. In 2002, the writing duo was a finalist in Embassy Music’s 7th Annual Songwriter Competition. The duo''s independent music video, "Lift", won a spot on Interlinc''s nationally-distributed youth DVD, making Morgan the only independent artist selected. And in 2004, their song, "You don''t Love Me" won first place - chosen from 33,000 entries - for Best Original Song at the USA World Showcase. There, Morgan performed for a national audience on PAX TV. Most recently, Morgan was chosen as a Finalist in the prestigious 2006 New Folk Competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival, joining the names of past participants Lyle Lovett, Shawn Colvin, and Nanci Griffith.

With influences that range from Tracy Chapman to Mindy Smith, from Leigh Nash (Sixpence None the Richer) to Joni Mitchell, from Reba McEntire to Nora Jones, Morgan''s voice is unmistakably distinct with its home grown, rootsy nuances and it''s beautiful simplicity.
Morgan’s confident vocals are betrayed only by her sometimes vulnerable and honest lyrics, a voice for every woman. Not that femininity is her only driving quality - her appeal is universal. A dynamic entertainer onstage, her sincerity is truly understood by her audience.
When asked what her goal is in the music industry, Morgan simply replies, “I’m just a regular girl who’s been through some really tough times. Still, I’m determined to make the most of them and appeal to people with struggles by providing an outlet for their pent-up pain, frustration, and their joy… through song,” she says. The artist at heart day dreams, “ If I could choose to be at any place, at any time, I would want to be 7 years old again, swinging on the red hammock in my back yard singing to the trees - my captive audience.” With a talent like Morgan’s, the trees will have to wait.
