MP3 Mike Furbee - The Artery Project

Acoustic-Celtic-Appalachian-Folk-Rock-Jazz

19 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Modern Folk, WORLD: Celtic

Details:
Multi-instrumentalist Mike Furbee releases a solo album. Although fiddle is his primary instrument, this album features Mike on mandolin, electric bass, pennywhistle, tenor banjo, guitar, vocals, saxophone and keyboards as well as a few other odds and ends. Bob Shank, George Arata, Myron Bretholz and Mark Walbridge pitched in to make this very listenable CD. Although this group usually plays a sort of Neo-Celtic-Appalachian style they sometimes call ''Sissy Old Time'' some of the tracks on this CD definitely show folk rock, and jazz influences. All the tunes are Furbee originals. Mike describes the project heimself:

"This band came together to produce the Artery Project Soundtrack in Late 2004 and early 2005. This project started out with a book of abstract artwork by Mary Furbee, my wife, who died in April 2004. The project soon expanded to include a DVD to accomodate all the images which wouldn''t fit in the book, and this required a soundtrack. What better soundtrack than to record some of the tunes I had written over the past 25 years from when I first met Mary.
I have had the good fortune to play with all these guys before, in the Frothy Band and in Curmudgeon. Bob and Mark go back even further, playing in the legendary band, Hickory Wind. Although Bob and I recorded two albums with Curmudgeon, I never got to record with George, Myron or Mark until this project. They were fantastic, traveling to Morgantown from Boston, Baltimore and DC to help me. Bob did a beautiful job of recording and led me through hours of painstaking edits to end up with the final product. I included 3 of my tunes from old Curmudgeon recordings too.

Curmudgeon was:
Monica Andis
Jack Barker
Mike Furbee
Bob Shank
Larry Spisak
