Details:
My father likes to brag that I was such an unusual baby mostly because when I was too fussy, all he had to do was play Thelonious Monk, and I was calm. Great jazz music wasn''t all I was exposed to growing up. My dad had a large music library, and I heard the best of the best in rock, jazz, folk, bluegrass, pop, Motown, etc. I love music. I love everything about it.
I have to admit, this made it hard to decide which direction to go when choosing a genre or style to sing myself. Aside from classical training, I love singing rock, R&B, jazz, blues, alternative anything, fusion anything. But there is just something so right about doing alternative jazz and r&b/soul. When I heard the first recording of "What I Should''ve Said" I was intantly hooked. It reminded me of Sade and some of the greats from the 80''s jazz movement. There are also the elements of pop/rock and a ballad with a bit of a country feel to it. Who knows, maybe the next album might have more of everything else... but I''m so proud of my first solo endeavor! Enjoy!
