"Martha Lorin possesses a smooth-as-velvet voice enhanced by thoughtful, lyrical phrasing. Listeners are drawn in further by the taut, perfectly discrete ensemble which compliments this intimate romp among the riches of the American Songbook."
Love the CD.

AT LAST, A SINGER WHO DELIVERS A SONG THE WAY THE COMPOSER INTENDED. THE WAY MARTHA LORIN SINGS THE SONGS IN HER CD "BLUES OVER BROADWAY" MAKES ONE FEEL THEY HAD BEEN WRITTEN JUST FOR HER! THERE ARE ONLY A FEW ARTISTS THAT CAN INTERPRET A SONG THE COMPOSER''S WAY AND MARTHA LORIN''S APPROACH TO EACH LYRIC HAS THAT FEELING. "BLUES OVER BROADWAY" BREAKS NEW GROUND WITH EVERGREENS LIKE "ON THE STREET WHERE YOU LIVE" AND "I''M GONNA SIT RIGHT DOWN AND WRITE MYSELF A LETTER".
HER VOICE IS A THING OF BEAUTY...CLEAR AND DISTINCTIVE AND HER PERFORMANCES OF SONGS BY ELLINGTON, BACHARACH, PORTER, STAND OUT. I BELIEVE MR. ELLINGTON WROTE "SATIN DOLL" (CUT ONE) JUST FOR HER.

Martha Lorin''s "Blues of Broadway" starts with the song "Satin Doll" which from the start points out her ability to bring such a great variety in her voice on this CD. Moving over to track two just confirms the opinion of the first track and let''s you settle in and enjoy all her, sometimes surprising, "Blues over Broadway" - tracks.

Print Review on "Blues Over Broadway" from Jazz https://www.tradebit.com.

Martha Lorin has a wonderful powerhouse of a voice, her phrasing perfect, and her sensitivity right on key with each song! For those who enjoy the American Standards, this is a collection to have in your home library and as a gift for a friend.
The arrangements of these songs perfectly suit the subtle voice of Martha Lorin. An example of Lorin at her finest is heard on Kern''s "Why Was I Born," one of the finest renditions of this song in recent years.

There are thirteen songs in the collection. "Satin Doll," Cole Porter''s "Get Out of Town," "Send in the Clowns," "New York, New York," "On the Street Where You Live," "Alone Together," "What I Did For Love," and "The Party''s Over" are among the many fine songs.

If you are looking for an enjoyable collection of jazz vocals, BLUES OVER BROADWAY should be among your favorite picks for entertainment. For further information on the artist and this recording check out Lmgkidsource@https://www.tradebit.com.

To quote a few of the many reviews that Martha has received:

Dave Nathan - https://www.tradebit.com - ..."Lorin delivers a stunning interpretation of Billy Strayhorn''s difficult to sing tale of depression and woe. Although not a threat to replace the Johnny Hartman/John Coltrane Quartet version as the classic interpretation, Lorin''s work does not suffer by comparison. Good work all around on this album which offers a generous 71 minutes of music."

Dave Burns - JAZZ TIMES "Lorin''s warm contralto caresses the classics. No one can duplicate Ella''s incomparable style, but your ears relish this elegant homage."

Jazz legend TOMMY FLANAGAN "She is a wonderful singer who has a timeless quality and yet a fresh voice on the jazz scene."
