Details:
Nellie Eve is a singer / songwriter who grew up in Northern Michigan. Her first lyrics and melodies were created while walking to and from elementary school, or while her mother had the vacuum cleaner on. Her first recording (aside from the tapes of her crying as a baby, produced by her father) was self produced on a tape deck and created as a gift for her first grade teacher.

Ten years later Nellie Eve was writing solid songs on her beloved Alvarez acoustic guitar. She began playing open mic''s and by August of 2000 had completed her first full length album. Under the alias "Sleepy Maggie," "Home Before Dark" contained twelve original songs by the songwriter.

After graduating from a wonderful performing arts high school Nellie Eve moved to Chicago to continue her education of academics and life experience. During her first years in Chicago Nellie Eve observed the many different directions she could potentially take her music. In 2003 Nellie Eve teamed up with student producers Pierce Julian Doerr and Peter Alb to create a professional and full sounding album entitled “Accepting Infinity.”

A few neighborhoods and heartbreaks later Nellie Eve began to direct her sound closer to its roots. Her next recordings, “Twice Daily Until Spring,” stripped away all the clutter leaving only the purest emotion. With six of the seven songs reminiscences of heartbreak, Nellie Eve’s simple guitar and raw voice beg for an audience to hear her story.

Following three years of the Chicago life, Nellie Eve picked up the pieces of her heart and went back to Michigan to sew them back together. With three months on an organic farm on Lake Michigan in the Lower Peninsula, and four months of solidarity in a cabin on Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula, Nellie Eve began to manifest her sound.

For her 21st birthday Nellie Eve’s mother gave her a much anticipated banjo. Three months later a new album with her new sounds would begin to surface. Released in February of 2006, “December Songs” reflects a chapter of isolation, self discovery, awe of the natural world and of course, some more heartbreak.

Nellie Eve is currently collaborating with some East Coast musicians and hopes to tour real soon.
