Co-singer/songwriters Janet Emma Garbe and Julia Kasdorf came together in May of 2000 to discover they had a knack for harmony singing and alternately penning and arranging songs together. Joined by 4 or 5 of the East Coast’s most recognized and respected musicians, One Horse Town kicks up the dust in town’s around Virginia, Maryland and DC on a regular basis (parents with jobs, but we do travel from time to time!) OHT has been blessed to have shared the stage on several occasions with Nashville up and comers Last Train Home, DeadReckoner Kevin Welch, Rickie Simpkins, Orrin Starr, Jimmy Gadreau, John Starling, and more!!
Three years in the making, OHT’s debut release Dawn Will Deliver reflects a deep love of music, especially roots, alt country and bluegrass, and a commitment to carrying the torch for the greats who came before!! To the likes of Buck, Emmy Lou, Johnny, Merle, the Louvins, (the list goes on forever) and more recent heavies like Kevin Welch, Steve Earle, Kelly Willis, Patty Loveless, and Patty Griffin, to name a few, OHT raises their voices to say, “Thank You.” For inspiring, for serenading, for the soundtrack to our lives, for the heartbeat.
Jon Carroll of the Mary Chapin Carpenter Band and Starland Vocal Band fame brilliantly produced this little record, and graciously played keys and accordian, amongst many other instruments he can’t seem to help but play expertly! Jon’s keen ear and deft touch are accented by the skillful mastering touch of Mr. Bill Wolf at his studios in Arlington, Virginia. Bill has artfully mastered records for many greats, including his loyal client and friend Tony Rice, Emmy Lou Harris, Willy Nelson, and pop music favorites Eddie From Ohio!! Rhythm monsters and OHT buddies Martin Lynds and Jim Carson Gray came along for the recording of this stellar debut recording, but only on loan from alt-country heroes Last Train Home. Recently, Kip Martin of Jimmy Martin and the Sunny Mountain Boys joined OHT on bass, as has blues/alt-country drummer James Hayden and tele-slinger Stuart Martin of the Wolves of Azure for a killer lineup!! Pedal steel master Lynn Kasdorf puts the “high lonesome” in OHT’s cowboy sound, and contributed untold engineering hours during the making of Dawn Will Deliver. This band will not disappoint!!
