Winter, January 2005. With the demise of Black Tiger, James Lavigna (formerly of San Jose’s Betty’s Love Child) and Jiri “Chechi” Ciernava (formerly of San Jose’s Curbside) decide it’s time to form a new band. They place an ad on the internet looking for a guitar player into, among other things, old Iron Maiden. Unhappy with his current gig, Jeff Hsue answers the ad. It’s a fateful decision. After one jam session, they know they’re onto something special. Six months later after auditioning countless singers, enter Raphael DiDonato. Barely a teen when Betty’s Love Child and Curbside were fixtures on the San Jose music scene, Raphael brings an energy and sense of humor that captivates the band. The decision is unanimous and bluepoint is born.
A self-described “wall of sound,” bluepoint bridges the past and the present with their potent blend of feedback-laden, emotionally charged, hook-filled melodic rock. Following a slew of great shows, bluepoint disappears into the studio. Fast forward to June 2006.
