MP3 Rick Muir - Cape Town

These songs have a spare poetry about them contrasting with multiple acoustic and electric guitars. Highlights include the angry "Dirty Ice", the dream sounds of "Cape Town" to the humorously bluesy "Friends in the Netherlands".

Details:
“CAPE TOWN” produced and recorded from April 2006 to its release on January 2nd, 2007. I’m writing this myself so I’m not going to speak in the third person. I love this album. I yielded to long periods of intuition and inspiration and then worked hard to get it down on disc. I hope this doesn’t sound like ego talking, but I am a DIY kind of guy. I play all the instruments, did the mix down, and the mastering. My wife took the photographs and one of our sons did the graphics design and layout, the other son offered regular inspiration and encouragement…so uh,,,, I guess I’m not completely a “do-it-yourselfer”. I’m happy and proud that the family worked together on this project.

“Cape Town” is a multiple mix of acoustic and electric guitars, harps and keys, using somewhat orchestral effects to achieve a dreamlike quality. “Dirty Ice” is an angry song that came to me after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast region. “Cape Town” is about the strange (to me) way of life where the seasons are reversed and the super wealthy use it for a playground. “Friends in the Netherlands” is about my wish to visit Holland and the beautiful friends I’ve made in the past year. There’s a story behind every one of these songs. If you really want to know how they came about, just drop me an e-mail. But many times the imagination is better than the real story so feel free to daydream. That’s what I’m doing.

Thanks very much.
