Vox Sonus is a new contemporary music group based out of Los Angeles, Ca. The debut EP- cd of Vox Sonus, "The Human Feel", is a collection of deep thoughts and raw emotion. The writers weave in the rich timbre of the cello, with driving piano lines and heavy guitar, which culminate into the orchestrated, melodic compositions, kissed with the sultry sweetness and strength of the vocals. From the gentle moods of “The Jesus Song"(In His Light), to the energetic “Raise Your Hands”, each song chronicles an inspiring and personal story in the life of the two creators. Vox Sonus desire is that the listener not only hear the music, but also feel it in their heart and soul.
The group officially formed in December 2004 with Rick Brandt (writer, producer, composer, arranger, lead guitar, cello, bass and backup vocals) and Valeria Macias (lyrics, vocals, keyboard, piano). After writing their first song together (which was originally intended as a Christmas gift for their families), this song "The Jesus Song" (In His Light), became the match that sparked the fire to continue writing and to cultivate the sound of the band. In 2005, a lifelong friend (Brian Cortese, drums, percussion and backup vocals) heard the music and made the move to Ca. to become a part of the group. Vox Sonus began with recording an acoustic cd, which later acquired interest from a local independent label, Velvet Liner Productions. The labels interest sparked the interest of investors, who believed in the future and talent of the band. These investors opened new doors for the writers. Session players, such as Gary Mallaber (drums), who has performed and recorded with Bruce Springsteen, Steve Miller, and Los Lobos, graced their current cd with his remarkable talent. Tom Lilly (bass), who has performed with Mick Fleetwood, and is currently touring with Beth Hart, played on two tracks, along with Chris Smith (piano/ keyboards) of Jefferson Starship.
Jono Brown, owner of Word of Mouth Studio and reputable drummer, has described Vox Sonus’ sound as being “ … melodic like U2, with a female singer”.
The band is currently booking dates for their southern California tour. The goal of Vox Sonus is to give hope, inspiration and musical pleasure to the lives of those that choose to listen and to do so with the highest degree of quality and professionalism possible.
