UnCommon. The redeemed of God. The name was given specifically by God to Donte’ MiShawn Bond while incarcerated, reading Acts 10:9-15. Rather than go into detail in this biography, UnCommon suggests that you read the passage and let God give you the revelation for your life as He did for him. UnCommon is graced with the ability to cover a number of different styles but is currently in a season of soulful/neo-soul/r&b sound. Though the music has the flavorful soul of Anthony Hamilton and Music Soulchild and the lyrical passion of Lyfe Jennings and Dave Hollister, it’s all gospel! Some may disagree but that is for God to determine. The phenomenal songwriter was born in East L.A. (yes, like the song), raised in Pomona, CA and now resides in Nashville, TN.
UnCommon is currently working on the highly anticipated album, “I Am U”. The album deals with many everyday struggles that are typically considered taboo in church. UnCommon says that, “we as a church often fail in the area of deliverance because we step over our issue with praise and worship, but never actually deal with the problem so it catches us from behind, by the coattail. Then we are back in the same mess. Preachers will preach a powerful sermon but many times it falls on stoney ground because we can’t talk about stuff and confess it. We feel convicted through the sermon but don’t confess to our bretheren so that we can have the accountability. Therefore, it’s still a hidden secret between you, God and satan. No earthly accountability (so the enemy creeps back in again). So why no earthly accountability? Half the time it is because we are afraid that we’ll be judged. The other half is because deep inside, we plan on it happening again. And then, God forbid we get an accountability partner and they since something is wrong, they won''t even say anything because they are afraid that one day someone will expose them the same way. God, please have mercy on us all! I don’t know how this album is going to help others, but it is helping me as I walk through it each day. This has been my life and I’m sharing it with you because . . . . .well, “I Am U”.”
UnCommon, along with manager Tredale McCullough of 39 Lashes Management Co., has teamed up with Kontagious Music Group to present UnCommon to the world on his debut album “I Am U”. UnCommon is currently preparing for a deliverance tour called “All Churched Out” to promote his self-titled EP ~ UnCommon "The Single Series", prior to the album release.
