As a child my father bought me a violin that i used to try and play, I never got a note out of it, it must have been murder on their ears. Both parents could play the piano and my father the accordian. Strangely they never taught my sister or me. I started playing the guitar in 1970 when I was eighteen and I was off work for several weeks with a fractured foot that I hurt playing for the Works soccer team. I played in folk clubs and pubs for a couple of years and played with a band and also solo until 1977.
In 1983-4 I met a guy called Eddie Hodges in a bistro called Carl Angelo`s in Bolton, Lancashire (at the time of writing this I`d just bumped into Carl for the first time in many years) We had a jam session and everything seemed to click. We formed a duo that we called “Back on the tracks” and gigged around Lancashire for a couple of years until 1986 when Eddie moved to Spain. I continued with a couple of gigs but the fun had gone out of it for me so I decided to have a break. I continued to write music but didn`t play anywhere until 2002 when a friend Nick Jackson (the Nick Jackson Band) asked me to play a couple of numbers at an open mike gig. I later decided to record a few of my own songs really just for myself and perhaps to leave something for my future grandchildren to enjoy or have a laugh at. After having a chat with Nick (who has produced this cd) whilst recording at his studio we decided to release the album. I hope you like it.
