Omega Brown is one of Miami’s hottest vocal sensations; singing in and around the South Florida live music scene for over 8 years. Her voice is cherished and well recognized by many for its smooth, rich octaves; versatility, and strong delivery. She’s easy comparable, and often crossed between singers such as old-school Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, with hints of jazz legends like Sarah Vaughn. She’s also a powerful songwriter and arranger, creating songs that highlight “real life”; its set-backs and triumphs. Through music Omega hopes to reach the people. She is a rising symbol of achievement through experience and perseverance.
Her story began, at the age of 5 when she struck a note on her grandmother’s piano. Within two years, she had started composing songs to perform for her family and friends. She fell in love with music at an early age. By the time she was a teen, she started to compete in local contests, performing her original songs and winning. Such events would lead to her join the group Fade to Black under Gold Dust Productions owned by local producer WIl Baskns at age 16. By 19 she signed her first recording contract with Crystal Entertainment/ Pantera Records; a choice that created set-backs with her career objectives. Unknown to her at the time she signed a bad record deal without council. During this period offers were also made by Jive Records, East West Records, and Luke Records.
Progressively, she started to establish a reputation for herself and gain local support. During this time she conducted voice lessons and provided co-writing and ghost writing services for producers, and a number of singers and rappers. She also became re-engaged with attending auditions in search of her next big break. During this period she landed roles, in the South Florida Idol; Philip Michael Thomas’s “Sasha” the stage play; and later ABC’s Make Me a Star.
In the year 2001, Omega Brown returned to the studio, and recorded her first international single “Cloud 9”, under Luis Benedetti. This tune hit like fire in the UK and was a club favorite for DJ’s throughout the UK. During this period Omega also crossed over into the world of live music. She joined the Pegasus Flight Band as the female lead vocalist, which transformed her career as a studio singer into a goal of becoming best band in town.
For 5 years, the Pegasus Flight Band featuring Omega performed all over Florida; from weddings, to mansion parties and clubs of all sized. Their signature was high energy, Funk and Soul; mainly cover tunes that embodied subtle memories of a more celebrated time in music. For Omega, this period brought self discovery and new ambitions. It motivated her to develop stronger vocal freestyle, riffs, and adlibs; which gave her originals more soul. These experience also had an impact on the type of material she created. The diverse experiences in her professional and personal life, transformed her lyrical content and vocal delivery The band held performance contracts at venues such as Calabash, Jazid’z, Sandbar Lounge, Club 2000, Club Anne-Mae, Tropics, Pymrods, Islanders, Tobbaco Road, ect. After five years, the band separated following the tragic loss of their rhythm guitarist.
Today, Omega is working on the production of her album, stage show, and tour entitled, Everyday Freedom. She is also using this time to promote her company RavenEye Entertainment, which helps outher artists build a career in the entertainment industry.
