A biography.
Born in Rome 1973 on July 21st, Enrico begins his musical studies when he was 11 years old at the secondary school of the “Istituto Francesco Petrarca”. At the age of 15, he approaches the jazz guitar with the teachers M. Nardi, R. Nicoletti and D. Terenzi, at the “Scuola di Musica di Testaccio” in Rome and at the same time, privately, he studies piano, theory and solfeggio with the teacher F. Pieroni. After having attended for five years the SPMT, Enrico improves his musical knowledge attending several stages with international teachers such as Joe Di Iorio, Jerry Bergonzi, Adam Rogers, Mark Turner, Kurt Rosenwinkel and several others.
In ’94 he begins his activity as professional musician, taking part to and winning prestigious jazz competitions such as: Eddie Lang jazz festival (coming first), San Gemini jazz (coming first), Barga jazz (coming first), Lucus Ferionae (coming first), Baronissi (coming second), Eurojazz ’94 (coming third) and several others.
Beside directing his own band, he cooperates as side-man in several groups. From 2005 is a stable member of Mario Raja’s “Big Bang” orchestra. In 2008 he plays in the Maurizio Giammarco quartet and since 2010 is part of the Enzo Pietropaoli Group; further more he is now and then guest of the Pmjo Orchestra of the Rome Auditorium. Beside the already quoted musicians, he has played with: Rick Margitza, Tony Scott, Eddie Henderson, Vince Benedetti, Dario Deidda, Pietro Lussu, David Sanford, Walter Blending, Rosalia De Souza, Paolo Birro, Greg Burk, Piero Leveratto, Max Ionata, Luca Mannutza, Daniele Tittarelli, Claudio Corvini, Ron Seguin, Pietro Ciancaglini, Gianluca Renzi, Ettore Fioravanti, Lorenzo Tucci, Giampaolo Casati, Stefano D’Anna, Andy Gravish, Fabrizio Sferra, Emanuele Cisi, Jerry Popolo …
Beside the concert activity he is deeply involved in teaching permanently in the schools of music “Artidee” and “Fonderia delle Arti” in Rome. He has taught in the summer seminars at the Viggiano jazz (2005-06-07), San Gemini jazz and Tam Music School (Fermo).
