MP3 Artless Bravado - Last Dances & Longing Glances
Last Dances & Longing Glances is the follow-up companion piece to the previously released EP, Near Misses & Stolen Kisses. The lyrical content of the album is for the audience to decipher. Although much of DeMarte’s lyrical writing is based on personal and somewhat esoteric experiences, the central heart and crafting of the EP is the music itself. This is demonstrated throughout with many musical breaks and upbeat transitions from Genova and Scholfield. To sum up: sit and ponder if you wish, but the band’s recommendation it to dance and move about. This is borderline garage rock, treat it as such.
The band is also joined by the very talented Tori Cadle on two of the tracks. Cadle adds a nice balance, a ying to the band’s yang (or vice versa), by sharing her well-crafted and refined singing voice and pensive piano lines; she is the bell of the ball here. Don’t be fooled though; she radiates hints of despair that matches the band’s persona.
Luckily for Artless Bravado, they have the same (and very talented) sound engineer, Billy Armijo, from their previous EP and the same brilliant photographer, Keturah Davis, who worked on their cover art. Both spent countless hours editing the sound and sight of the EP. This EP is a reflection of their mastery as well.
