Background
Fenyx Sky,*pronounced Phoenix Sky* birthname Cambrie Briggs was born in Memphis, TN, “Home of the Blues”. Growing up in Southern California, she was introduced to music at the early age of 12 while singing in her church, and by the age of 14, she wrote and recorded her first demo, a three song set. Her classically trained voice & style are immediately recognizable, floating on every track effortlessly.
Her unique stage persona, has been heard in many diverse settings, including, opening up for major artists such as Faith Evans, Missy Elliot and Busta Rhymes at The Annual “The Beat Summer Jam concert.” Her multi-faceted talent has also inspired many in the Religious arena with a renowned performance for Pope John Paul II. Her talent crosses all boundaries, and her inspiration and passion are limitless. One of her outstanding qualities is her “fantasy like” signature looks which portrays a dual image of the Fenyx (Phoenix) edgy and dramatic and Sky soft and etherial. Her looks include silver highlights, unitards and leather material accessorized with couture artwork reminiscent of popular television heroine characters of the 90’s “X-Men”, as well as regal attire, metaphoric symbols and quotes inspired by Roman and Greek culture and mythology.
Her musical artistic influences are as diverse as her sound, ranging from Gospel singers, such as Yolanda Adams and, Karen Clark-Sheard, to Classical artists such as Leontyne Price, Renee Flemings, Claude Debussy, Chopin, and Beethoven. Other influences include Pop/Alternative artists Janet Jackson Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Selena, Debelah Morgan, Alanis Morisette, No Doubt and R&B artists Tamia, Toni Braxton, Angela Winbush and Shanice Wilson. Her music has been coined “a hybrid of various musical genres.” Her signature style is demonstrated in one of her popular songs, “Schitzofrenic”. The piece contains edgy minor keys, rock driven guitar and drum sounds and musical motives inspired by Classical composer Beethoven. Then there are the Pop influences that are in the song “Last Night” including a techno rhythmic feel, and heavy synthesized sounds. Her emotional journeys in life such as the loss of her grandmother and the kidnapping and murder of her 1st cousin fuel her lyrically, creating a variety of inspiring topics that touches on love, life, and heartbreak.

When she’s not making music in the studio, she’s performing nationally and internationally. She also performs in various local Houston venues such as: Clayton’s, Isis, Martelles “The Pink Flamingo, Sambuca Fitzgerald’s, Vintropolis, Jet Lounge, The Real Sammie’s, House of Blues, and Sullivan’s.
Currently, Fenyx is working on her debut album, with several hit making producers which include: Beat Battle Champions, Sky Scrapa and Kalani of “Stadium Status” production team, along with songwriter Doc_C . Every year she will expand her talent even more and, tour across several states to create her own unique musical pathway and style.
