The arrangements reflect Lyn and Moose’s combined wealth of experience in folk and non-classical traditions as well as a strong creative impulse grounded by the duo’s extensive classical training and their deep love and admiration of Bach’s music.
In arranging Bach’s solo string works, special effort is made to respect both Baroque and folk performance practice while presenting these works in a completely new light. The original pieces are re-contextualized by using various stylistic elements, such as ornamentation, melodic variation and alternate tunings that enhance the rhythmic element of Bach’s music. Above all, Bach Reformed seeks to emphasize and play with the dance rhythms and seemingly improvisatory qualities inherent in the original works.
