Ulrike Westfa (1974) was born in Paramaribo Suriname in South America.
At a very early age (3) she already found herself on stage singing (in church). Through the years there were lots of music projects starting in 1986 with the gospel rock band ‘Warrior’ together with several other projects including joining the National Youth Choir of Suriname and being part of Indonesian- and Country&Western shows.
After finishing high school (’93), Ulrike moved to The Netherlands for study. Besides study and work she performed in several bands: the Latin band ‘Palante’ (1997-2002), the coverband ‘Solar’ (2002-2005), and in church. She was also part of the making of her brother Marco’s first two records: ‘Heling’ in 1994 and ‘I’ll Give You My heart Instead’ in 1999.
After an intensive 10 years of performing every weekend, she decided (in 2005) to take a time out from music. During this ‘time out’ her long time dream of making her own record came to life again. She started to write songs together with husband Mark and little by little they were recording the songs at their small home studio. In 2010, when NINE beautiful songs were born, they decided to go for the real deal, so together with producer/musician Iwan VanHetten (Brooklyn Funk Essentials/Sister Sledge etc) they hit the big studio and here it is: her first record ‘Nine’. The record contains a surprising variety of “lay back”, easy listening pop- and latin music.
