Details:
Born in Northern California, Christopher grew up in small town America where he found musical success early, playing his first professional gig at age 10. An eclectic musician, he studied conducting, saxophone and composition while performing in the studios and club scenes of Los Angeles. His education and teaching career have led him across the country: California to Kansas, Baton Rouge to Boston, Montana to Maine, and finally to his home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Along the way he has conducted and soloed with orchestras, bands and jazz ensembles from coast to coast. Popular as a clinician and dedicated to education, he continues to perform and compose extensively. A performing artist on the ARC (Artists Recording Collective) label, Dr. White is the Director of Jazz Studies, Chair of Winds and Percussion and Instructor of Saxophone at Radford University, Radford, Virginia.

Snizzlefritz! (1994) – for my Mother. An interjection to replace words too impolite to use, in places a teacher can never use them.

Down East Suite (1994) – for my grandmother Carol, who never saw it for herself.
Foliage Road – Fall in Maine brings some of the most spectacular colors ever seen. The work describes vistas seen by leaf-peeping tourists.

Snowy Nights – Light reflecting off the winter’s snow in the pre-dawn hours.

When Sleeping Things Awake – Delighting in the departure of snow and the rebirth of things lain dormant during the cold Maine winter.

Black Fly Affair – The joy of arriving summer is heralded by the arrival of Maine’s tiny biting bug.

In My Own Sweet Time (2010) – Dedicated to my wife, a woman of quiet strength who does things on her own terms; a woman who will not be hurried.

Lullaby (1994) – for Kathryn Colleen. The work describes the quiet ponderings of a husband informed of his pending paternity and the joys of those reflections.

More tea, Please (1998) – for McKenzie Carol. The title comes from a toddler’s persistence in requesting a drink that is no longer in supply, while her Daddy is trying to work.

Crackers and Bri (2010) – for Brianna Kelly. Known as “Daddy’s Little Princess” and “Daddy’s Little Cheeseball”, this work delights in a child’s playful silliness and joyful wit.

Boom-Boom, Whee (2010) – in loving memory of Ashley Morgan. Each evening I was greeted by a smiling toddler running to embrace me. Our favorite game consisted of her bouncing on my arm and spinning around the room together.
