The movie musical has been around ever since films began to talk. It is a tried and true formula, when, done properly can stand the test of time.
Tomorrow Starts Tonight takes the movie musical into a new direction, and puts the music and performances into relative situations. Much like the film ‘Duets’, all of Tomorrow Starts Tonight’s performances take place on a karaoke stage, where each song performed expresses that particular characters current state of mind.
However unlike the real karaoke stage, all these songs are new and original compositions.
Born in the mind of writer/director Darren Phillips, Tomorrow Starts Tonight is a project that has been brewing for years. A songwriter for the past 15 years and an avid photographer/film maker for the past 10, Darren has combined his skills and passions to create this labour of love, that he and his entire cast and crew hope will be a roaring success when it is released in 2011.
Darren’s song writing collaborator on Tomorrow Starts Tonight is Dan Skeed. Dan is the lead guitarist/co-writer in the successful and popular Sydney band Urban Stone. Dan''s passion for the project was evident from the very first contact email. When Dan and Darren finally met on the first audition day, it was obvious Tomorrow Starts Tonight and Dan Skeed were a perfect fit. So much so that Dan''s input would earn him a producer credit. The song writing collaboration began and together they produced 14 tracks that would appear in the final film.
The recording of the soundtrack began mid December 2009 at TLS Studios in Sydney, with Dan''s long time friend and engineer, aJay at the helm. A year in production, the album is finally complete and available for purchase.
Arguments will be settled, hearts will be broken, true love will be found.
