We live in story. Our history, memories, dreams, and hopes are all captured and passed on through stories. And our stories are all part of a bigger Story.
God’s Story, the stories found in the Bible, have been passed on for thousands of years through storytelling—narratives, poems, songs, and dances—all with the hope of helping others understand, experience, and intersect their stories with God’s Story.
Soma Communities has been forming gospel communities on mission around the Story of God since 2004. Many people have come to know God and begin a relationship with his son, Jesus, through interacting with and experiencing the Story of God in small communities of people who come together to hear and discuss these stories. This has grown into an international movement of people who share and live out the gospel, beginning by sharing this simple, but powerful story. A story so powerful that it transforms lives.
In Tacoma, Washington a community of musicians and songwriters formed around the Story and began to write songs that reflected what they were learning and experiencing as they went through the Story of God together over several months. The songs they wrote and shared with each other were beautiful, powerful, and life-changing. They began to showcase these songs live at a monthly songwriter showcase in Tacoma. These live events became an important time each month in our city as crowds gathered to hear these new songs that reflected eternal truths. The songs are not “preachy” or “churchy” but are written from the heart—exposing weakness, need, grace, and hope.
This offering represents our first efforts to record and share these songs—these stories—with you, your families, and friends. We hope they will encourage you as much as they encourage us. Any money made from the sale of this music will go to fund future recordings and new churches being started. Thanks for helping us continue on this amazing journey.
