So the truth is ... we’re a bunch of clowns who get serious for two things: Jesus Christ and music for the glory of Jesus Christ. We each play and compose on our own, but in 2008 we decided to throw our gifts in a blender and turn it on HIGH.
How we all met depends on who you ask. Some of us are related and couldn’t help it, some of us were college roommates and some of us just showed up at dinner as though we’d always been there. One common link we share is our past and present involvement at Maywood Baptist Church in Independence, Missouri (hence the band name) and the ministerial influence of the late Gary Driskell: singer, songwriter and worship leader whom we dearly miss.
We’re not entirely sure what the Lord has in mind with us or the music He’s inspired us to create together, but our prayer is that He uses Maywood solely to glorify Himself. This has already proven to be humbling, frightening, enlightening and a good reason to get life insurance. It’s air in the lungs and a swift kick in the gut all at once. Yes, please.
