Sonny Tackett left eastern Kentucky in the seventies for Nashville Tenn., with a dream of becoming a songwriter. Twenty four hours later he had already secured a publishing contract and Tommy Overstreet was recording one of his songs,Down in the Quarter, which went on to become a hit, and has now been recently recorded again by bluegrass artist Charlie Sizemore. Becoming friends with Gary Stewart in the early 70''s, Sonny had many songs recorded by Stewart including a top ten hit,and went on to co-write many songs with Gary. In 1992, RCA producer Roy Dea, Stewarts longtime producer, signed Sonny to his own label, Blue Day Records, distributed by https://www.tradebit.comh the same top musicians used by Stewart and and many other artists, including the great guitarist Wayne Perkins, Roy produced Sonny''s debut cd, “The Way Of The Gun”, in the same Nashville studios Stewart and many other great artists recorded in. Having learned the ropes from Stewart, and being a smart buisness man, Sonny held on to the rights for the cd ,even though signed to Blue Day Records.
