Sam has worked as a bassist in bands and in the studio with some of the biggest names in Australian popular music including Jim Moginie (Midnight Oil), John Schumann (ex Redgum), Shane Nicholson, Bill Chambers and Broderick Smith from the Dingoes.
“Things Fall Apart”, a captivating acoustic-based collection of songs that explore rejuvenation, love, relationships and an attempt at a murder ballad.
“Things Fall Apart” is a testament to Sam’s wide array of talents. As well as playing most of the instruments on the album, Sam recorded and produced it himself.
“‘Things Fall Apart’ is a classic cottage industry product in that I recorded it over several months under the stairs in my house,” said Sam Willoughby. “Things were going pretty well until I inadvertently hit the delete button and dumped over 1000 audio files. That was when things really did fall apart!”
