Rabiyah is talented and quite accomplished. she has already performed on stage at the world famous Apollo Theater in New York City, at the National Black Theater Festival in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and at a variety of venues along the Eastern Seaboard. At home, in Philadelphia, she has appeared at Warm Daddy''s, the Clef club, Penn''s Landing Festival, the Coltrane Festival, and countless other venues where true jazz lovers appreciate quality performances.
Off-stage, Rabiyah is a quiet, soft-spoken, unassuming 14-year-old young lady. However, under that quiet exterior brew a current of goals and lofty, but very realistic dreams and aspirations. Rabiyah remains calm and levelheaded. Although she is an impressive scholar, and an accomplished artist, she treats everyone with respect and dignity. Whether she is in the company of world known greats such as Maya Angelou and George Faison or film and theater greats such as Glen Thurman or Malcolm Jamal Warner, she remains sweet and steady.
Rabiyah''s talent has been enriched by devoted teachers such as Sherry Butler, Owen "Fidlaa" Brown and a host of fine instructors at the Creative and Performing Arts High School of Philadelphia. She has been encouraged and supported by the great Kenneth Gamble, her grandfather, Wali Hamid, who serves as her promotions manager. Family and caring individuals who believe in her and her dreams surround Rabiyah.
