MP3 Lior Navok - Urban Nocturnes
The night, metropolis, fog, drizzle, empty streets… the last streetcars head back to their warm shelter. The sound of a distant construction work echoes through the quiet avenue. Clocks reach the small hours - these belong to the night people.

Program notes by Lior Navok:
Urban nocturnes is my first solo cd as a performer. After many years of writing for many orchestras, ensembles and individual performers, i decided to perform urban nocturnes myself. The work is also entitled "15 night episodes", as the music, reflective and pensive for most of the time, presents the solitary feeling that may people experience in the big metropolis, especially in the small ours of the night, when things calm down and everybody is at home. At these small hours, the city looks different; its sounds are different, more distant, more alienated. Add to that a fog and rain and the imagination will go into many directions.
The music, in a way, projects a strong feeling of film noir. It is quite hard to define it stylistically as it involves modern composition, avant-garde jazz, traces of baroque music and a unique percussive sound projection of the piano.
Urban nocturnes is dedicated to the night people.
