Breagh MacKinnon is a new voice to the Nova Scotia music scene, raised in Cape Breton in a musical family she has been surrounded by instruments for as long as she can remember. MacKinnon has been playing classical and jazz piano since the age of six. In 2008 she added guitar playing and song writing to her creative repertoire.
MacKinnon’s song writing styling has been influenced from multiple genres ranging from her parents’ vinyl collection, Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell, Aretha Franklin, Herbie Hancock, Iron and Wine, Ella Fitzgerald, Imogen Heap, and numerous musicians across the east coast of Canada.
