Details:
I am descended from a long line of Celtic Traditional musicians and singers from Wicklow County, Ireland, the birthplace of the great Irish traveling piper, Johnny Doran. The Celtic line continues with my two sons who are singers, performers and songwriters in their own right. I joined the Scots Guards Pipe Band and blended Scottish tradition to my genre. Jonathan Byrne composed some of the songs on this album and plays acoustic and electric guitars.

While playing the bagpipes I served with the Scots Guards and performed at the Festival hall, Albert Hall, Earl''s Court, Trooping the Colour and Beating the Retreat at Horse Guards, London. I performed for the Queen during presidential and state banquet visits at Buckingham Palace. I have performed on Granada and BBC TV with groups such as the Bay City Rollers, plus playing at piping competitions in Britain and Canada. I have been playing the Uilleann Pipes (Irish Pipes) for 25 years at many folk and traditional music festivals in England and Ireland. I''ve just completed a tour of Clare, Cork, Wicklow, Dublin, Spain and England. I have produced and recorded three CDs of folk fusion and traditional music called ''The Pebbled Shore'' ''Sunset Isle'' and ''The Raven''s Dream.'' The first two albums were created with the help of funding from the National Lottery and the Cumbria Regeneration organization.

I have composed original pieces on my CDs, using Uilleann Pipes, guitars, keyboards and other electronic equipment. I have also composed a musical score for my stage, TV and radio play, ''Night-Swimming.'' I have performed the backing music for the BBC radio play, ''In Search of King Arthur.''

I have had 50 travel, history and music articles published in a variety of magazines, journals and newspapers, including ''Ireland''s Own,'' ''The Australian Travel Magazine,'' and the prestigious American internet Jazz and folk magazine, ''https://www.tradebit.com.'' I won the BBC Playwright of the year (1999) for my radio play, ''Night-Swimming.'' I also adapted the play into TV format and monologue format with original music backing. I won the Royal Literature Award for my stage plays in 2000.

I have taught Penny-Whistles and Uilleann Pipes at Further Education Colleges and some schools and have been involved in various Community Musical Projects. I also deliver music workshops to mental health authorities in an attempt to relax and stimulate various clients, and also deliver workshops at folk music festivals.

I have featured in six BBC Radio recordings and interviews, including BBC Music Live events. My performances have also been televised on BBC Radio North West and Granada TV. I created and obtained funding for and organized the Biggar Village Folk Music Festival on Walney Island, Cumbria, England. This one day event was a showcase for the best of local folk music and musicians and ran for six consecutive years, was reported on local television and radio. During this six year period I also organized and ran regular folk and traditional music events in and around Cumbria. I am now presently gigging and teaching and recording in California.
